About The IKEA Marathon
The IKEA Marathon arrives in 2026 as a novel addition to the running calendar, taking place entirely within the Croydon IKEA store on 13 December. This 26.2-mile trail race loops through the store's interior, running up escalators, along aisles and past the tills to create an unconventional marathon experience. The event starts at 6pm and operates under a strict six-hour cut-off time due to the working environment.
The race is limited to 100 places, with entries carefully managed to suit the indoor venue. Runners will find aid stations with a Swedish theme, and finishers receive a self-assembly marathon medal and commemorative t-shirt. Note that spectators are not permitted, and the working environment means the organisers cannot accommodate late finishers. A portion of proceeds supports Shelter charity.
