Trail runners seeking a coastal challenge will find this event combining distance options with Northumberland's dramatic shoreline. The Kingdom of Northumbria Coastal Ultra takes place on 14 March 2027, offering a 27 km option starting from Boulmer Lifeboat Station and a 54 km route beginning at Links Road car park in Bamburgh. Both races follow a point-to-point format, finishing at Druridge Bay Country Park and passing landmarks including Beadnell Harbour, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster Village, and Warkworth Castle.
A pre-race shuttle bus transports runners from the finish line to their starting points. The event operates a strict 6:00 pm course cut-off. Mandatory kit includes water or fluids, food or gels, a lightweight jacket, a charged mobile phone with emergency contacts, and a headtorch for those finishing after 4:30 pm. Aid stations serve the 54 km route at Low Newton, Boulmer, and Warkworth Beach, with a single station at Warkworth Beach for the 27 km distance. A bag drop service is available, with bags transported to the finish.
