About The Loop London

The Loop London is a 170-mile nonstop ultra that circles Greater London on 18 September 2026, following a modified version of the London Loop trail. Starting and finishing at Cockfosters station, the route runs clockwise with a 46-hour time limit and demands considerable self-reliance: runners navigate using GPX files and trail markers with minimal external support, no pacers, and strict checkpoint cutoffs set at 3.7 mph.

The course is mostly trail punctuated by urban sections, including a notable diversion around 35 miles in that takes competitors through London Docklands, the Greenwich foot tunnel beneath the Thames, past the Cutty Sark and Millennium Dome, and along the Thames Barrier before rejoining the main loop at Erith. Six bare-bones checkpoints spaced roughly 25 miles apart provide water and basic snacks. One drop bag is accessible at approximately 100 miles. Track Trail tracking and a bespoke finisher medal are included.

Entry is strictly limited to 25 to 30 runners, all of whom must have previously completed a 100-miler. The event enforces a disciplined ruleset: no walking poles, no headphones, and no external pacers allowed, though runners may purchase supplies from shops or pubs en route.
