About The Maverick Exmoor X-Trail

Held within Exmoor National Park, The Maverick Exmoor X-Trail takes runners across 50 km of rugged trail terrain on 1 May 2027. Starting from Caffyns Farm in Lynton, the route weaves through coastal and inland landscapes, taking in sections of the South West Coast Path, the Valley of Rocks, sea cliffs with views across the Bristol Channel, ancient woodland, rivers and open moorland. Expect technical sections, sustained climbs and descents, and consistently demanding underfoot conditions throughout.

Multiple route options are available with published distances and elevation data. The course is fully marked and timed, with outposts supplying snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks. Runners should bring their own refill cup or bottle. The Ultra distance has a cutoff arrangement to allow completion in approximately 10 hours and requires mandatory kit including waterproof jacket, mobile phone, 1 litre minimum water, food supplies, whistle, foil blanket and GPX file. Facilities include free parking, bag drop, GPS tracking on the Ultra route, event photography and finisher medals.
