About The Old Crown Round
On 12 September 2026, The Old Crown Round takes runners on a 36 km trail race across the Lake District fells near Hesket Newmarket. The route covers 2200 metres of ascent and includes sections of open fell where navigation is essential – runners need experience with map reading, route finding and mountain navigation skills to complete it.
The event is organised by Northern Fells Running Club and holds UK Athletics insurance through the FRA. It's open to runners aged 18 and over, and teams are welcome to enter. The race is accurately measured, with male and female course records of 03:19:16 and 03:47:35 respectively.
