About The Pendulum
The Pendulum takes runners to Shieleygoat Sike in Northumberland on 27 March 2027 for an 11-mile trail race centred on two of the Cheviot peaks. Participants tackle both Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot, with a total elevation gain of 3,689 feet. A halfway cut-off point is set at 3 hours for reaching the summit of The Cheviot and returning; those who make it can continue to complete the second peak.
The course is marked throughout with a water station at the halfway point. Mountain rescue oversees the event, with constant communication maintained via a tail runner. Runners are advised to wear trail shoes, waterproofs, a whistle, hat and gloves. Finishers who collect wristbands from both summits receive a medal at the finish line. A GPX file of the route is provided to all participants before race day.
