About The Ridgeway Chase
The Ridgeway Chase is a 60 km point-to-point ultramarathon following the first 60 kilometres of the Ridgeway National Trail. Starting at Ivinghoe Beacon within the Ashridge Estate and finishing at Ridgeway View Campsite near Wallingford, the route traverses ridgelines and woodland through the Chilterns and North Wessex Downs, with over 1000 m of elevation gain. Runners have a 10 hour time limit to complete the course.
Taking place on 29 May 2027, the race will be fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons, and benefits from permanent Ridgeway signage alongside additional race signs where navigation requires clarity. Four checkpoints are positioned along the route, providing water, snacks, pre-made sandwiches, fresh fruit and other supplies. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association, held under UKA rules and is indexed for the UTMB World Series, with a maximum field of 150 runners. Entrants must be aged 20 or over and are required to carry specified items including a charged mobile phone, map or GPS access, water capacity, emergency kit and nutrition.
