About The Rings - Ultra
The Rings Ultra offers trail runners a challenging route through West Sussex's downland landscape. Starting at Lancing College near Shoreham-by-Sea, the 50K distance follows riverside paths before climbing onto the South Downs Way, taking in Chanctonbury Ring and Cissbury Ring. From there, the course continues along the ridge with views towards Brighton and the Isle of Wight, incorporating sections of the Downs Link and footpaths through surrounding areas.
This new event for 2026 is part of the South Coast Series and features both marathon and 50K options on the same course. The terrain combines trail, downland paths and riverside footpaths. The route is accurately measured with clear signage, marshals and a sweeper vehicle throughout. Support includes aid stations stocked with water, gels and fruit. Chip timing records results, and participants receive a finisher's medal upon completion.
