About The Rubber Ducky Dash
On 20 September 2026, Herrington Country Park in Houghton-le-Spring plays host to a flexible timed-challenge event where runners set their own distance. Within a seven-hour window, participants can choose anything from 3 km up to 50 km or beyond, with options including 5 km, 10 km, a half-marathon, marathon, and various ultra distances. The fully signed, traffic-free looped course through the park requires no navigation skills.
A fuel station operates at the start and finish of each lap, serving drinks, snacks, fruit, crisps and vegan options. The event welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities, including those new to long-distance running. All finishers receive a rubber duck-themed medal, their own rubber ducky and a goody bag, with distance pins awarded for half-marathon, marathon and ultra achievements.
