The Sunrise to Sunset Challenge takes place on 27 December 2026 at Shrewsbury Sports Village, marking the event's 19th edition. Runners can choose to complete 5 km, 10 km, 13.1 miles, 26.2 miles or 36 miles on the road-based course, which uses a purpose-built 1 km cycle track. The concept is straightforward: participants run as far as they wish between sunrise at 8.20 and sunset at 16.01, with lap cards stamped to track progress.
The looped format allows runners to tackle their chosen distance at their own pace throughout the day. Music, food and drinks are available to support participants as they work towards their end-of-year target. The course is known to be fast, with elevation differences minimised to suit the lap-based format.
