About The Wensleydale Wedge

The Wensleydale Wedge is a winter trail challenge held by the LDWA covering 24 miles over public rights of way in the Yorkshire Dales. Taking place on 22 November 2026 and starting from Bainbridge, the event operates under a 10 hour time limit with a mandatory cut-off at Carperby at 4pm. Participants must self-navigate using an OS map and compass, with no route description provided.

This is a serious undertaking requiring proper preparation. Entrants need to carry navigational equipment, waterproof clothing, a head torch, first aid kit, survival bag, whistle and emergency rations. The route incorporates multiple checkpoints, some offering refreshments and others requiring self-clipping. Finishers receive a hot meal at the base in Bainbridge Village Hall, with a vegan option available on request.

Places are limited to 130 runners aged 16 and over. Parking in Bainbridge is restricted, with event parking arranged nearby with marshalling to direct arrival.
