Fell runners looking for a substantial challenge in the Lake District will find the Thornthwaite Round a fitting test. This 9.7 mile trail race takes place on 19 September 2026, starting from St Mary's Church in Thornthwaite, near Keswick. The course climbs 871 metres across forest tracks and open fell, combining technical navigation with sustained elevation gain.
Registration and facilities are based at the church venue. Parking is limited, so car sharing, cycling or the X5 bus are recommended options. The event is open to adults aged 18 and over, with team entries welcomed. All finishers receive homemade tea. The race holds FRA permits and UK Athletics insurance.
