About Three Castles 50km
Experienced trail ultrarunners seeking a sustained challenge will find their match in this 50 km point-to-point race through the Medway Valley. The route follows riverside towpaths and public trails from Rochester to Tonbridge, tracing the historic Medway Valley Walk past villages, locks, ancient bridges and three medieval castles before concluding with a full lap of Tonbridge athletics track. The predominantly flat trail terrain is fully waymarked throughout.
The 9 hour overall cut-off drives a consistent pace, with mandatory checkpoint controls at 6 hours 15 minutes and 8 hours 10 minutes. Four aid stations at regular intervals provide support, while runners must carry their own mobile phone, minimum 1 litre fluid capacity and reusable cup. The race is open to runners aged 20 and over, with professional chip timing and live GPS tracking offered alongside bag transfer, medical support and a finish village. Taking place on 5 June 2027, the event starts from Rochester Social Club.
