About Tidal Trails
Tidal Trails brings together runners of all ages for a beach and trail running festival in South Shields on 16 August 2026. The day centres around an event village with live entertainment, beach games and activities, making it as much a festival occasion as a race.
Three distances cater to different abilities: a 2 km course for younger runners, an 8 km trail route, and a 16 km challenge. The main courses start and finish on the beach before heading onto the Leas, the grassy area overlooking the sea. The programme also features a barefoot sprint across the sand, adding a different dimension to the day's racing.
