About Tinto Hill Race
A 7 km hill race with nearly 460 metres of ascent, the Tinto Hill Race takes place on 31 October 2026 in South Lanarkshire. Organised by Carnethy Hill Running Club, this long-established event follows runners from the foot of Tinto Hill to its summit and back down. The route combines steady climbing on good paths and trods across the lower slopes with more exposed terrain higher up, where conditions can shift quickly, before finishing with a fast descent.
The concentration of significant elevation gain into a relatively short distance makes this a demanding test of hill running fitness. Registration and parking are based at Damn Delicious, Thankerton Camp Farm, near the race start. A junior hill race also takes place as part of the day's events.
