About TRAILDOG Discover Kielder Ultra
Kielder's trail running calendar expands with a 46 km ultra taking place on 20 March 2027, starting from Kielder Post Office in Northumberland. The route follows the Lakeside Way and passes both natural and manmade landmarks, with participants collecting physical souvenirs along the course.
The event welcomes runners and walkers, and dogs can join for the full distance, part of it, or not at all—though dog swaps must be arranged privately. Two main aid stations at Kielder Castle and Hawkhope Car Park will offer support and can transport bags and nutrition. A team relay format is available with handover points at these stations. All participants wear trackers for safety, and transport back to the finish is arranged for those unable to complete the course.
Those finishing on Saturday can take part in a special Ultra Legends walking wave on Sunday as part of the wider Collective series.
