About Tweed Valley Ultra
The Tweed Valley Ultra takes runners through the Scottish Borders landscape around Peebles, starting and finishing at Glentress Peel Visitor Centre. On 15 November 2026, participants can choose between 50 km and 65 km trail routes that wind through forests, along the River Tweed and across open moorland. Both courses climb through Glentress Forest before following the Tweed Valley Railway Path, passing through Cardrona and Traquair forests and incorporating sections of the Southern Upland Way. The terrain reaches its highest point at Minch Moor (520 m), where the two distances diverge.
The 65 km continues east over the Southern Upland Way towards Three Brethren Cairn and Yair Forest, while the shorter route descends through Traquair Forest. Both return via Innerleithen and Cardrona. Routes are fully waymarked with GPX files available, and the surface mixes bitmac with trail and minor road sections. Aid stations are positioned along both courses, with drop bag support offered. The Glentress venue provides a cafe, changing facilities, showers and accommodation.
