About Ultra England 50
Taking place on 24 October 2026, the Ultra England 50 is a 54-mile trail ultramarathon across the Lake District. The point-to-point course follows the Cumbria Way from Keswick to Ulverston, with the standard route taking in the high ground of Great Gable and Scafell Pike, though a low-level alternative is available in severe weather. Runners must complete the distance within 20 hours.
The event is limited to 250 participants and requires entrants to be at least 20 years old with prior marathon-distance race experience and good navigation and mountain skills. Mandatory GPS tracking devices form part of race kit, and the course includes five checkpoints with water, food, and hot meals at the fourth stop in Coniston. The race operates under a UKA license via the Trail Running Association and is strictly cupless, so runners carry their own reusable cups. Support crews cannot access checkpoints 1, 3 and 5 due to the remote nature of the course and limited parking.
