About Ultra In The Black Country
Baggeridge Country Park near Dudley hosts the 10th edition of this 32-mile trail event on 21 March 2027. The Ultra in The Black Country follows a loop almost entirely free from traffic, routing runners along disused railway lines and canal towpaths with minimal road crossings. Highlights of the route include woodland sections, a mandatory head torch passage through the 2.7 km Netherton Tunnel, and the shorter Coseley Tunnel before returning via Lower Penn and Wombourne through Baggeridge Woods.
The course is fully waymarked with GPX files available, and can be tackled solo, in pairs, or as a team of four, with three checkpoints offering water, energy drinks and food. Competitors must finish within nine hours. Entry is limited to 100 places, with a minimum age of 18 on race day.
