About Ultra Scotland 50
A 56-mile trail ultramarathon following Scotland's Southern Upland Way, Ultra Scotland 50 takes place on 5 June 2027, starting from St John's Town of Dalry and finishing at Moffat Rugby Club. The route climbs 2,447m through forests, valleys and the southern Scottish mountains along one of the country's Great Trails.
The event is capped at 400 entrants and operates a 20-hour cut-off, with checkpoints stationed throughout the course offering refreshments, hot food at some locations and basic medical cover. Support includes live GPS tracking via GB Race Tracker and waymarking along the route. Runners must complete every checkpoint and strictly observe the individual cut-off times at each stage.
Entry requires participants to be at least 20 years old and to have completed a marathon distance event under race conditions beforehand. Mandatory kit must be carried throughout, including a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproofs, compass, headtorch with backup light, charged mobile phone, emergency blanket and emergency rations.
