About Vale Coastal Races
Taking place on 24 April 2027, the Vale Coastal Races offer three trail distances across the Vale of Glamorgan coastline. Runners choose between 10 miles, 19 miles or 33 miles, all following the Wales Coast Path and staying close to sea and clifftops. The ultra distance passes 19 beaches, with its final 14 miles traversing the Glamorgan Heritage Coast's cliffs, rock formations and coves before all routes converge for the final climb to Ogmore-by-Sea Village Hall.
Navigation is self-led using the signposted Coast Path, with marked maps, detailed route notes and GPS files provided. The ultra has 6 manned checkpoints, the 19-mile race has 4, and the 10-mile race has 2, each supplying water, energy drinks and snacks. Time limits are 10 hours for the ultra, 8 hours 15 minutes for 19 miles and 8 hours for 10 miles. A compulsory kit list must be carried throughout. The race is linear, with event buses connecting Ogmore-by-Sea to the start points and parking available at Ogmore-by-Sea Rivermouth Car Park. Entry places are limited for each distance.
