About Vale Of Glamorgan Coastal Races
Three trail races follow the Wales Coast Path along the Vale of Glamorgan coastline on 24 April 2027, with distances of 10 miles, 19 miles and 33 miles. All three courses finish together at Ogmore by Sea village hall after a final climb known locally as the Hill of Doom. The 33-mile race begins at Penarth Pier and passes 19 beaches, with its final 14 miles along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. The 19-mile race starts at Porthkerry Park, while the 10-mile race joins the route around Llantwit Beach.
The entire route is marked and well signposted along the Wales Coast Path, with organisers providing detailed route notes and additional markers at tricky junctions. Runners navigate the course themselves, with checkpoints positioned throughout each distance offering water, energy drinks, squash and light snacks. Bus transport runs from the finish back to the start points as part of the event logistics. A compulsory kit list must be carried by all participants.
