About Water Of Leith Half
The Water of Leith Half follows the full length of Edinburgh's Water of Leith Walkway from Balerno to Leith on 26 September 2026. This 13.1-mile trail race takes runners through woodland, parkland, historic villages and riverside paths as the route winds alongside the river through some of Edinburgh's green spaces.
Organised by Blast Running in partnership with the Water of Leith Conservation Trust, the event operates as a deliberately small race to help protect the natural environment along the route. A handicapped start system sends runners off in waves based on expected finish times, and the predominantly off-road course offers a distinctive alternative to traditional road racing across Scotland's capital.
