About Way Of The Dead Dartmoor Traverse
A 50 km point-to-point trail running challenge, the Way Of The Dead Dartmoor Traverse crosses Dartmoor from Trenchford Reservoir to Tavistock on 20 March 2027. The route traverses open moorland, wooded valleys and historic landscape features, passing landmarks including Lustleigh Cleave, Bowerman's Nose, Hameldown Ridge, Grimspound and Postbridge before entering more remote, less marked terrain in its second half.
Runners encounter a demanding mix of trails, tracks and open moorland, with a significant section requiring self-navigation skills. The event welcomes solo runners or pairs and operates a 10-hour cut-off. Good route-finding ability and hill running experience are essential. GPS tracking, marshalled checkpoints and feed stations support participants throughout the crossing of Dartmoor's central and western moors.
