About Weald Challenge
The Weald Challenge takes runners through the East Sussex countryside on a 22 km trail route that follows the Wealdway outward before returning via the Vanguard Way. Held on 6 June 2027, this trail half marathon departs from Chiddingly Primary School and covers mostly public footpaths and bridleways with minimal road sections. The course includes uneven ground, steps and 16 stiles; runners should be prepared for potential mud and may encounter livestock on fields.
Two checkpoints punctuate the route at 9 km and 16.1 km, where water and fruit are available. The finish also offers refreshments, and all finishers receive a handmade coffee mug and medal—or participants can opt instead to donate £4 to Uckfield Foodbank through the Meals Not Medals scheme. The event is chip timed across three waves, with a five-hour time limit. Entry is capped at 400 runners, and competitors must be at least 17 years old on race day. Free parking is available at race headquarters.
