About Welcome Way Trail Race & Ultramarathon
The Punk Panther Welcome Way follows the Welcome Way circular trail around Otley, taking runners through moorland, rivers, canals and reservoirs, across farmland and into woodland. The route climbs Otley Chevin and Burley and Baildon moors as notable high points along the course.
Held on 13 March 2027, the event offers three distance options: 20 miles, 34 miles and 50 miles, each with different total ascent figures. All competitors must carry specified safety items as per the kit list. Provisional GPX files and route descriptions are provided in advance, with final instructions issued before the race. Checkpoints are positioned throughout, with additional ones for the ultramarathon distances.
Drop bags are available for the 50 mile course and will be transferred between checkpoints. Ultrarunners receive trackers with an emergency button and live position display; 20 and 34 mile entrants can hire a tracker. Finishers receive a medal and event T-shirt. The minimum age is 18 and places are limited.
