About West Highland Way & Ben Nevis Race
A pair of ultra distances across Scotland's famous long-distance path: 96 miles or 107 miles of trail running from Fort William to Milngavie over 29-30 May 2027. The shorter route follows the West Highland Way with around 14,700 ft of ascent, while the longer variant incorporates Ben Nevis, adding a summit visit and pushing the total elevation gain to roughly 19,175 ft.
The event is waymarked and point-to-point, with GPS trackers issued to all competitors. Food and drink stations are positioned at nine locations along the route. Runners can arrange drop bags for delivery at Bridge of Orchy (approximately 35 miles), Rowardennan (approximately 68 miles) and the finish. Those who need to withdraw at checkpoints or road crossings can arrange transport to the finish in Milngavie.
The race sets a 35-hour cut-off time based on an average walking pace of 2.7 mph, welcoming everyone from experienced ultra runners to steady walkers. Finishers receive a boxed Glencairn crystal goblet, and those completing the 96-mile course within 24 hours gain membership of the West Highland Way In A Day Club and a personalised keyring.
