About West Highland Way Race
The West Highland Way Race is a 96-mile ultra-marathon following the famous long-distance trail from Milngavie to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. Run across trail terrain with approximately 14,000 feet of ascent, the event has taken place annually since 1985 and returns on 19 June 2027 as its 41st edition.
The field is capped at 300 runners. The race is organised under a Scottish Athletics licence and provides competitors and their support crews with detailed practical information including checkpoint locations, cut-offs, route maps, GPX files and guidance on facilities along the route. Checkpoint support is available throughout the event.
