About Westcountry Ultra 100 Miler
Taking place across a May bank holiday weekend, the Westcountry Ultra 100 Miler is a 100-mile point-to-point trail race across Somerset. Starting and finishing at Taunton Scout & Guide Centre, the course combines two established routes—a flatter 50-mile section and a hillier 50-mile section—with total elevation gain of 9,538 feet. Runners have 32 hours to complete the distance.
The route traverses a series of established paths including the Taunton to Bridgwater canal path, the River Parrett Trail, the England Coast Path and the South-West Coast Path, passing through coastal and upland landscapes. Thirteen aid stations are positioned along the way, stocked with water, soft drinks, squash, sandwiches and snacks. The race operates a cupless policy, so runners need to carry their own bottle and cup. Pacers are allowed from the halfway point, and small drop bags can be left at the midway aid station. Professional medical cover is provided throughout the event.
