About Wharfedale Skyline
Wharfedale Skyline takes runners across the trail network around Otley, Ilkley and Guiseley on 14 November 2026. Three distances cater to different abilities: 13 miles, 20 miles and 35 miles, all navigating the hills and trails of Wharfedale in West Yorkshire. The route passes distinctive landmarks including Otley Chevin's Surprise View, Cow and Calf Rocks and Lindley Wood Reservoir.
Checkpoints are stationed at Yeadon Tarn, Menston, Denton and Norwood Methodist Church, offering water, energy foods and dietary options. All ultramarathon entrants receive a GPS tracker, while shorter distance runners can arrange tracker hire. The event requires participants to carry mandatory kit including waterproof jacket, survival bag, whistle, first aid kit and a hard copy of the route; a head torch is essential for the 35-mile course. Routes will be taped and provisional GPX files provided, though runners should carry navigation tools as a backup. Registration and the finish take place at Otley Cricket Club Pavilion.
