About White Peak Marathon
The Derbyshire Dales host the Down in a Shot 10K, part of the White Peak Festival of Running taking place on 15 May 2027. This trail race follows the later stages of the marathon and half marathon routes, starting at Harborough Rocks and finishing at Cromford Wharf.
The 10K runs off road across the White Peak Trails on compacted limestone and cinder surfaces laid along former railway tracks. The route undulates across the dale tops before descending in stages to High Peak Junction, with a net descent of around 800 feet and no steep climbs. Road running shoes are recommended for the terrain.
Race headquarters and registration are based at Cromford Wharf. Coaches transport runners from race HQ to the start, and finishers receive a medal, a race-branded gift, water and biscuits.
