About Winter Downs 100
Winter Downs 100 suits runners seeking a sustained winter challenge across three national trails in southern England. This 100-mile trail race on 11 December 2026 starts at Amberley Museum and follows the South Downs Way westward for 42 miles, before turning north-east along the Wayfarers Walk and St Swithuns Way towards Farnham for 32 miles, finishing with 26 miles of the North Downs Way to Box Hill and Juniper Hall near Mole Valley in Surrey.
Participants have up to 35 hours to complete the course, with the undulating terrain and long stretches between aid stations combining with 16 hours of daily darkness to create an adventure rather than a race day. Three checkpoints provide hot food, unrivalled volunteer support, live tracking throughout, and access to drop bags. Runners may use a crew, though the clock runs continuously as a single-stage event. The race is held under full UK Athletics Permit through the Trail Running Association.
