About Wye Valley Tunnel Run
The Wye Valley Tunnel Run takes place on the Wye Valley Greenway, a shared use path built along a former railway line between Chepstow and Monmouth. The event on 18 July 2027 is the first organised run to use the refurbished route and its centrepiece, the Tidenham Tunnel, which stretches over 1 km and has been lit for the occasion. Runners start at Wyedean School in Sedbury and follow the trail towards Tintern, with the tunnel reached roughly 3 km into the course.
Three distances are available: 500 metres, 2 km and 10 km. All routes follow set trails to designated turn-around points before retracing steps back to the finish at the station. The path combines compact stone surfaces with tarmac, and sections offer views across the Wye Valley. The Greenway itself dates back to April 2021, when the Greenways and Cycleroutes charity completed restoration of the historic rail corridor.
