About Y H A King Of The Castle
On New Year's Day 2027, runners head to Borrowdale in the Lake District for the Y H A King Of The Castle, an uphill time trial that takes place at YHA Borrowdale. Starting from the hostel bar, participants run individually against the clock on a 1.6 mile trail course with 200 metres of ascent, finishing at the war memorial on Castle Crag. Runs are professionally timed with live results displayed in the hostel.
Open to runners aged 18 and over, the event welcomes both individuals and teams. All participants receive cake and hot drinks after their efforts.
