About Yellow Belly Backyard Ultra
A backyard ultra demands a different mindset: competitors complete a 7 km trail loop every hour on the hour, with whatever time remains used for rest and recovery. The Yellow Belly Backyard Ultra takes this format to Lincolnshire's Wolds on 22 May 2027, running at Old Hall Caravan Club near Louth. The race continues until only one runner completes a lap alone, making them the winner whilst all others record a Did Not Finish.
The 100% off-road course winds through undulating farmland and rugged trails, gaining over 120 metres of elevation per lap as it passes through Wyham, a deserted medieval village. Runners can camp at the start/finish, bring support crews, and access an aid station providing water and snacks. Mandatory kit includes trail shoes, waterproof jacket, insulated layer, head torch with spare batteries, hat, gloves and a buff.
