About Yorkshireman Off Road Marathon
Now in its 34th year, the Yorkshireman Off Road Marathon draws runners back to the moorland, trails and woodland around Bradford each September. The event has become a fixture on the fell running calendar, regularly attracting more entrants than places available. Competitors can choose between the 26-mile marathon or 15-mile half marathon on 12 September 2027, starting from Railway Station Car Park.
The course is waymarked across open terrain and runners are expected to carry a relevant map. The marathon includes five feed stations stocked with items such as Port and cheese, Landlord fruit cake and salted potatoes, while the half marathon has two. Hot drinks are available before the race and hot food at the finish. The event runs under Fell Runners Association rules with the FRA mandatory minimum kit requirement. Generous cut-offs apply, and early starts are available for slower runners. Free guided reccy runs take place in July and August for those wanting to familiarise themselves with the route beforehand.
A volunteer-run event, any profits are donated to charity. SPORTident live timing and results are provided. Ten free places are available for active UK mountain or fell rescue team members.
