About Yr Wyddfa Ultra 50
This 45-mile trail ultramarathon in Snowdonia covers rugged mountain terrain with approximately 3,254 metres of ascent. Taking place on 5 September 2026, the eighth edition is based at Betws-y-Coed and follows a route encompassing the Snowdonia Slate Trail and key peaks including Yr Wyddfa, Tryfan, the two Glyders, and Devil's Kitchen, with notable lakes and Swallow Falls along the way.
The event has a 20-hour cut-off time and offers 500 places. Five checkpoints are stationed throughout the course with refreshments and medical cover. Runners must be at least 20 years old and demonstrate prior ultramarathon and mountain experience, with applications reviewed individually. Participants require strong map-reading skills and must carry a full set of mandatory kit including OS map, compass, waterproof layers, headtorch, emergency rations and other essentials at all times. A GPS tracker is issued to all runners for safety.
